US President Donald Trump joined the 70-year-old tradition of NORAD Santa-tracking by answering calls from children on Christmas Eve. While First Lady Melania also joined him in the session, a video of the 79-year-old politician responding to a kid is going viral.

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the official X account of Rapid Response 47 shared a video of Donald Trump asking a kid,

“What do you want from Santa?”

As the kid spoke to him about wanting “a Kindle” from Santa Claus, the 47th president of the United States referred to him as a “high-IQ” person.

“That's pretty good. You must be a High IQ person. We need more High IQ people in the country,” Donald Trump responded to a child.

Meanwhile, as the video captured a kid telling Donald his desire to get a Kindle, the e-reader designed and marketed by Amazon, a Twitter user was quick to share their reaction to the politician’s response, and wrote,

“I am living for these calls 🤣”

@RapidResponse47 @RNCResearch @POTUS I am living for these calls 🤣

Although the president appeared to be impressed by the kid’s answer, the video received mixed reactions. Some netizens appeared to find Donald's response humorous, noting it was “blunt” and “funny.”

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS 🤣😂😅blunt as usual, but books would be better.

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS 😂😂😂 Trump is so funny.

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS Santa: Ho Ho Hold my budget.

While others questioned his “IQ and “humor.”

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS Is this just lighthearted humor, or does framing intelligence this way send the wrong message?

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS Let's start by getting a president with at least an average IQ.

@RapidResponse47 @POTUS He’s so clueless about people.

According to The Mirror, the US President and the First Lady chatted with youngsters from Mar-a-Lago, the politician’s private resort in Palm Beach. As the children from across the nation called the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), the 79-year-old president appeared to update children on Santa’s movements.

Notably, during one call, when a 10-year-old from Oklahoma asked about Santa, Trump responded that they track him all over the world and shared his assurance that Santa Claus is a good person, saying:

“We want to make sure that Santa is being good. Santa is a very good person. We want to make sure that he's not infiltrated, that we’re not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa. But we found out that Santa is good, Santa loves you, Santa loves Oklahoma, as I do. You know, Oklahoma was very good to me in the election, so I love Oklahoma. Don’t ever leave Oklahoma, OK?”

Notably, the programme was a televised event with the US President and the First Lady taking calls from several children for around 20 minutes.

The NORAD program is reportedly a joint venture between the United States and Canada, which usually monitors the skies for potential threats. However, as per The Mirror, it keeps an eye out for Santa on Christmas Eve.

Meanwhile, the US President also claimed to have won three times in the election in Pennsylvania. Revisiting the 2020 election, he claimed that he beat former President Joe Biden. Trump said:

“I know Pennsylvania is great. We won Pennsylvania, actually, three times... I bet your mom voted properly.”

According to The Mirror, the politician reportedly carried the US state in 2016 and 2024, but had lost it in 2020.

Elsewhere during the event, Donald also reportedly shared an awkward moment with his wife, Melania. While he attempted to flirt with her, he was seemingly snubbed by her live on the air.
