WWE Superstars and veterans cannot continue to perform at the same level forever as athletes in the industry. Recently, Hornswoggle discussed his future in the industry and addressed when he would retire from in-ring competition.

Hornswoggle became a legend in the Stamford-based promotion based on his work primarily with Fit Finlay under the old regime. After he was released from the promotion in 2016, the former Cruiserweight Champion maintained a healthy relationship with the company and appeared sporadically throughout the years.

Speaking on WrestlingNewsCo's Velvet Ropes, the 39-year-old veteran was asked about his future and what's next for him as a performer. During this, he touched upon the topic of retirement and stated he will be done with in-ring competition when he no longer enjoys it.

"So, I don't know what's next. I'm going to continue to take bookings. I'm going to continue to have fun with them. And the minute I stop having fun again, like really, really not having fun, I'm done because then I'm working. And I say it all the time: I don't want to work. I just want to do what I love to do," Swoggle said.

Hornswoggle addresses John Cena's retirement from WWE

Hornswoggle had his fair share of moments with John Cena inside the ring and backstage, as the two were on the roster at the same time. While both stars walked different paths following 2016, The Franchise Player's retirement struck a chord with every wrestling fan and veteran in the industry.

In the same interview, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion addressed John Cena's retirement at Saturday Night's Main Event and stated that it impacted everyone deeply compared to the retirements of Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and Ric Flair. Moreover, the retirements of these three WWE legends didn't have the same impact, as they ultimately returned to the ring.
