Battlefield RedSec is set to be released on October 28, 2025. However, downloading it is different for players who already own Battlefield 6 and those who don't. This is because it is set to be a free-to-play battle royale, which will also be available outside of the base game and will be accessible across various platforms, including PC, PS5, and Xbox.
As of the time of writing, you can download Battlefield RedSec by simply updating Battlefield 6 on your device. Here's more.
Battlefield RedSec: How to download and play
You can play Battlefield RedSec after it officially goes live on October 28, 2025, at 08:00 am PDT / 11:00 am EDT / 4:00 pm CET. However, to download it, Battlefield 6 owners simply need to update the game to the latest patch 1.1.1.0, which was also released on October 28, 2025.
By doing so, they will automatically download Battlefield RedSec into their respective devices. This is because the brand new update added the free-to-play battle royale to the base game for those who already own it. However, as it is a free title, it will also likely become available as a separate downloadable game on stores such as Steam, PlayStation Store, and Microsoft Store. When it releases, here are a few basic steps you can follow to download the game:
- Steam: Open Steam, and click on the Search bar on the top right. Write 'Battlefield RedSec' and press 'Enter'. This will take you to the game's page. Simply click on 'Play Game' and start the download.
- PlayStation Store: On the home screen, go to the PlayStation Store icon by scrolling on your main game bar. Open it and go to the search bar to look for Battlefield RedSec. The game's page will open from where you can simply download it.
- Xbox: Open the Microsoft Store by opening it from the top bar.. Look for the game within the store and install it into your console.
The battle royale will likely become available as a separate download at the aforementioned times in various time zones, and it may have a download size of anywhere between 20-25GB, considering other games of the same genre.
Battlefield RedSec is a surprise drop by EA, as the BR was not announced in the Season 1 roadmap released earlier. In fact, it was revealed that the Battlefield team was working on releasing a BR in the near future, leading many fans to believe that the game's development will take longer.
However, now, the game is a reality and is reported to consist of 100 players and the world's deadliest ring in any battle royale game, forcing players to stay inside the safe zone or be eliminated instantly. That being said, precise details surrounding the game mode are scarce.
