Heat’s Tyler Herro comments on potential return from ankle injury

The Miami Heat could be getting star guard Tyler Herro back on the court sooner rather than later.

The Heat’s leading scorer from last season has yet to suit up for the team this season while he recovers from ankle surgery that he received during the offseason. However, Herro participated in practice with the Heat on Sunday, and hopes to get back to action in a week or two.

Herro averaged 23.9 points per game last season and was named to his first All-Star appearance. Despite his absence, the Heat have jumped out to a solid 7-6 record to start the season. The Heat have also been without All-Star Bam Adebayo for the last couple of weeks.

Herro spoke with reporters after Sunday’s practice about his potential return to game action.

“It felt great being out there with teammates and being on court with them,” Herro said. “My foot is getting better — Trying to get back as soon as I can, I’m looking at about a week or two hopefully barring setbacks.”

With Herro nearing his return, the Heat will look to maintain their solid start to the season, and look to make some noise in the Eastern Conference once they are able to get back to full strength.
