Gunther was backstage on WWE RAW, where Jackie Redmond addressed the disrespectful behavior he has been displaying towards everyone following his win over John Cena. He was confronted by a 53-year-old legend, who seemingly accepted the challenge for a match while calling The Ring General the "World's Greatest Wrestler".
On WWE RAW this week, Gunther seemed quite dismissive about Jackie Redmond's question about his disrespectful behavior. Perhaps because he felt it was justified in some way, as he could back up his arrogance. In the previous weeks, he got into face-to-face confrontations with the likes of Otis and R-Truth, while also teasing being the final opponent of AJ Styles, who also confirmed he is retiring in 2026.
Gunther said that it was an insult to simply say he beat John Cena as he made him tap out, but R-Truth, the 53-year-old legend, confronted him. While admitting to The Ring General that he is the best wrestler in the world right now, he also warned him about not messing with John Cena's legacy. R-Truth doesn't mess about with John Cena, but in this particular instance, he channeled his inner Ron Killings. In response, the two-time World Champion challenged him to a match.
Although R-Truth didn't say he agreed, it was implied that he did, and that it was on, and soon after, the match was confirmed. Of course, nobody expects R-Truth to pick up a victory over one of the most dominant stars of this decade so far, but either way, it's an interesting dynamic to see the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time become a legend killer in his own right.
It has been one of the most interesting months in The Ring General's career as he is public enemy #1.
