Danielle, a member of NewJeans, has been officially removed from both the group and ADOR. This decision signals a major shift in the long-running contract conflict that has divided the members for months. On December 29, The Chosun reported that, according to ADOR, Danielle breached her exclusive agreement by entering into conflicting contracts and pursuing outside entertainment work. The agency stated these actions directly violated her obligations under the signed deal.
On Monday, ADOR released a formal statement confirming the termination of her exclusive contract. The agency cited a complete collapse of trust and unresolved disputes tied to the ongoing legal battle.
“In Danielle's case, we judged that it would be difficult for her to continue as a NewJeans member and ADOR artist. Therefore, we notified her of the termination of her exclusive contract today," the company stated.Following further discussions, ADOR confirmed on Monday that Hanni will return to the agency and resume activities with the K-pop act. Talks with Minji are still ongoing. The company described the conversations as positive and aimed at "mutual understanding through ongoing conversations.” Following this, “NEWJEANS IS FIVE” trended on X, as fans expressed support for all five members.
ADOR also announced plans to pursue legal action against a family member of Danielle and former CEO Min Hee-jin. The agency claimed both figures played a central role in escalating the dispute and influencing Danielle’s exit.
NewJeans-ADOR conflict explained
The NewJeans-ADOR dates back to 2024. Min Hee-jin stepped down after being asked to resign by HYBE in April. After her departure, the members questioned the legitimacy of their contracts. They argued ADOR had failed to uphold its responsibilities and claimed their agreements effectively ended in November 2024.
The quintet's conflict with ADOR (Image via X/@alldoorsoneroom, @NewJeans_twt)ADOR responded by filing a lawsuit the following month. The agency sought confirmation of contract validity and requested an injunction to block independent activities. On October 30, the Civil Division 41 of the Seoul Central District Court ruled in ADOR’s favor. The court rejected the members’ attempt to terminate the contracts early and ordered them to remain with ADOR until 2029.
Haerin and Hyein were previously confirmed to continue group promotions under ADOR on November 12. On the same day, Minji, Danielle, and Hanni released a statement through their legal team, expressing their intention to return to public activities. ADOR responded by saying, they are "coordinating individual meetings with the members."
ADOR also added that a full explanation of the dispute will be shared at a separate event, with details to be announced later.
