Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman has emerged as potential candidate for New York Giants coaching role, according to NFL insider Dianna Russini.

Russini reported that the Notre Dame coach, who led the team to a 10-2 record this year, is one of the candidates shortlisted for the role vacated after Brian Daboll's firing.

Amid his coaching pedigree, fans reacted to Freeman's viral hair paint photo with more than 200k views.

According to Russini, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak are the other candidates for the job.

NFL insider expects NFL teams to be interested in Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman

While Russini said Marcus Freeman is on the shortlist for the job in New York, the NFL insider reported that other NFL teams could also be on the lookout for the Notre Dame coach even though he is contracted till 2030.

"I also expect Freeman to garner interest from other NFL organizations. The 39-year-old has spent the past four years leading Notre Dame, taking the Irish to the national championship game last season. Last December, he agreed to a lucrative contract extension through 2030. "And though he has never coached in the NFL, his leadership, people skills and ability to thrive in one of the most high-profile jobs in the country are what’s drawing the interest of general managers and owners.

Despite the reports, Freeman might stick around at Notre Dame to continue his pursuit of the National Championship.
