Free agent pitcher Framber Valdez was filled with gratitude in his message on New Year's Eve. The former Houston Astros pitcher declined the qualifying offer to become a noteworthy free agent starting pitching option this winter. In 2025, he had a 13-11 record and a 3.66 ERA over 192 innings.

In the wake of free agency rumors, Valdez posted a photo with his wife, Isamal Valdez, on New Year's Eve. Valdez was wearing a black t-shirt with a necklace having his jersey number 59 written on it. Meanwhile, Ismale went with a sky blue outfit as they enjoyed a romantic dinner.

"I calm down because I know that each day will bring its own hustle. Thank you father God for this beautiful moment," Valdez captioned the post.

Valdez and Ismael met young in their native Dominican Republic. They got married and share three sons. The family will make a huge decision this offseason. So far in his MLB career, which started in 2018, he has played with only one franchise and that is the Astros, with whom he won the 2022 World Series championship and earned two All-Star selections along the way.

Mets showing strong interest in Framber Valdez

The New York Mets are emerging as a strong suitor to land free agent Framber Valdez. They reportedly met Valdez at the GM Meetings as they hope to bolster their roster with the southpaw's addition.

Meanwhile, both the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants are also seen as logical spots for Valdez, given their need for a high-quality arm. The Baltimore Orioles are another American League team that's interested in the free agent pitcher.

According to projections, Valdez could sign a huge contract in the vicinity of $160M-$200M+ for five to six years, depending on the team and structure.

In the lead-up to his free agency, Valdez attracted controversy after he crossed up his own catcher in frustration. However, later, the pitcher and catcher both said it was just miscommunication and there was no fault of either side.

It remains to be seen where Valdez heads next in the offseason.
