Earlier in 2018 Millie Bobby Brown became subject to "transphobic memes"

#StrangerThings star Millie Bobby Brown deactivated her Twitter account over a meme that depicted her as homophobic in various photoshopped screenshots with homophobic, racist and body-shaming captions. In reality, Bobby is an antibullying advocate and an LGBT+ rights supporter.

This was not the first time when the Damsel actress was displayed as "transphobic" by meme or parody accounts. According to the BBC, in 2018 the actress was associated with "transphobic" meme content. Back then, as a part of a trolling trend, many X users shared her photoshopped pictures with "transphobic" quotes on them.

The report noted that the Enola Holmes alum quit the platform following the incident. However, the actress did not cite a specific reason for leaving the platform.

In 2022, the beauty entrepreneur gave an interview to Allure in which she talked about her relationship with social media. The actress had earlier deleted her TikTok and X accounts. The story noted that Millie Bobby Brown had been receiving "hateful messages" and "NSFW missives from adult men" before she deactivated her social media.

"It’s really hard to be hated on when you don’t know who you are yet. So it’s like, ‘What do they hate about me? ’Cause I don’t know who I am.’ It’s almost like, ‘Okay, I’m going to try being this today.’ [And then they say], ‘Oh, no, I hate that.’... Then you just start shutting down because you’re like, ‘Who am I meant to be? Who do they need me to be for them?’ Then I started to grow more, and my family and friends really helped," the actress said.

Millie Bobby Brown recently became a mom after she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, adopted a daughter in August this year. She announced the adoption via an Instagram post.
