On October 26, 2025, SHINee’s Minho led Team Korea’s Rising Eagles to victory at the Bench: Shoot of Asia celebrity basketball game in the Philippines. The event was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. It brought together popular Korean and Filipino stars for a high-energy exhibition match that turned unexpectedly intense.
As the clips went viral online, fans noticed that the SHINee star appeared visibly upset during the second half. It was reportedly after a series of questionable referee calls and physical plays against him. At one point, he was seen being calmed down by teammate Su In after expressing frustration on the bench.
Despite the tension, Minho remained focused. He returned to the court with renewed energy and led his team to a 72–63 win over the Filipino squad Kuys Showtime.
Social media quickly buzzed with posts from fans defending Minho. Many criticized the officiating and the physical nature of the game. An X user, @peaceminus1xx88, wrote,
"NEVER MESS WITH CHOI MINHO!!!"NEVER MESS WITH CHOI MINHO!!! #BenchShootofAsia #ChoiMinho
Several fans stated that Bench should’ve hired international referees to keep the calls fair. Meanwhile, others expressed concern after a Filipino player appeared to shove Minho during play, who was later reported to be the opposing coach’s son.
