F1's Valtteri Bottas unveils dazzling Australian vineyard home

Valtteri Bottas is creating a relaxing abode with his Australian vineyard home.

Alongside his longtime girlfriend, Tiffany Cromwell, the F1 star thought of the idea when they were in South Australia together six years ago. After finding the property in McLaren Vale, South Australia, they decided to act on it to create the home of their dreams. 

"We actually stayed here back in 2020 when I first came to South Australia," he explained to Domain last month. "It came on the market, and we just had to make it happen."

The couple decided that it fitted their lifestyle to embark on this journey to South Australia. Bottas and Cromwell lived in Monaco, which is one of the most prestigious hot spots for racing in the entire world. 

"We travel a lot for work, for competitions and events," he added. "So for me, home should be a place where you automatically relax. That's a good target for everyone to have for their home: that you just naturally chill out, de-stress when you walk in. And that's what we created here for sure."

While Valtteri currently races for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, Cromwell is a professional road and gravel cyclist for the Canyon/SRAM team. She also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for Australia.

Valtteri Bottas and Tiffany Cromwell explain why they chose South Australia for vineyard home

Bottas and Cromwell expressed their necessity for privacy and a laid-back vibe and figured South Australia was the perfect place to unwind.

The home features an open-plan kitchen, lounge area and dining room. There is also a separate lounge for relaxation that has a fireplace. In the outside space, there is a kitchen with a view of the vineyard.

As athletes, they converted the shed to a gym, and Bottas insisted on having a sauna as well. 

On top of building a space that features everything they could need, the location for the couple was a no-brainer.

"It's a place where you can just feel like you don't have a thousand things you have to do," Cromwell said of South Australia. 

Bottas added that "South Australia is very underrated" and that there are several luxuries to explore, like "beautiful beaches and the best wine in the world."

"I just feel like you have everything here," he said. 

Bottas is not the only athlete who has decided to own a vineyard.

Soccer icon David Beckham, former NBA stars Yao Ming and Dwyane Wade, and race car driver Danica Patrick, to name a few, are athletes who own vineyards for personal or public use.
