Tristan Thompson responded to fans who made fun of his latest post on Instagram.
The NBA champion shared a photo of himself in a black suit sitting on a bench at home with his shoes and socks off. Alongside him on the bench was a bottle of liquor, and he accessorized his tailored suit with a diamond bracelet and ring, watch, and black sunglasses.
While Thompson was clearly trying to show off his new outfit, fans couldn't help but zoom in on his bare feet. Fans went to the comment section to poke fun at the NBA star.
"Damn did he play barefooted?" one fan asked.
Another fan accused the athlete of using AI to clean up the photo, "He used AI on his photo and it gave him a 6th toe. Bunions look nothing like toes."
"The 6th toe identifies as a bunion," one fan wrote.
One response even got a reaction from Thompson himself comparing him to LeBron James.
"Still not as bad as LeBron but why do you got 6 toes here? man is transforming into a ChatGPT generated photo," the fan wrote, according to a screenshot via The Hollywood Unlocked.
Thompson didn't pay the fan no mind and responded, "NBA championship bunions."
The Cleveland Cavaliers alum won the 2016 NBA championship alongside LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love to defeat the Golden State Warriors.
Tristan Thompson responds to retirement rumors
Back in May, Thompson was a guest on his ex-girlfriend Khloé Kardashian's podcast "Khloe in Wonder Land" where she asked him how did it felt that he was been away from the court.
"Honestly, it's been great," Thompson told Kardashian on the May 28 episode of her podcast. "I always tell people it feels like I'm a rookie again."
"You have to figure out how you're going to pivot," he continued. "The toughest thing for anyone, but for athletes, is figuring out what's next. For athletes, the easiest transition is going into sports broadcasting because it's a way that you can still stay part of the game and just talk about what you love."
The last game that he played was in was on May 11, 2025, with the Cavs against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. After his appearance on the Kardashians' podcast, E! reported that the NBA star "confirmed [his] retirement."
However, Thompson responded to the rumor mill by writing on X, "Fake news," alongside the "cap" emoji in response to Legion Hoops reacting to the retirement announcement.
