Newly crowned ONE bantamweight MMA world champion ‘The Tormentor’ Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu of Mongolia is proud to wear the ONE world title around his waist. But what the 36-year-old is even more proud of is the opportunity to inspire the Mongolian people.

Baatarkhuu captured the bantamweight MMA gold with a fourth-round submission victory over ‘Wonder Boy’ Fabricio Andrade of Brazil in the main event of ONE Fight Night 38: Andrade vs. Baatarkhuu on Prime Video.

Speaking to veteran ONE Championship reporter Nick Atkin in a recent interview, Baatarkhuu talked about inspiring his people.

‘The Tormentor’ said:

“Maybe people think that way, but I’m just a guy who really likes to fight. If that makes people inspired, that’s great to know.”

Baatarkhuu added:

“After I became [the] champion, I see lots of youths and young generation kids, they want to be a mixed martial arts champion. They also want to train. As you know MMA is not easy; it’s a fight. What I mean is, I’m not encouraging all kids to train MMA as a career; before they make their choice, they have to really consider carefully, and they better try to train first. It also makes me feel inspired that knowing that young generations are so inspired by watching my fights.”

Baatarkhuu said:

“I really want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my coach, legendary Narantungalag Jadambaa. He became a world champion 11 years ago. Today, I became a champion. It's a lot to ask.”
