A new rumor surrounding Avengers: Doomsday has begun circulating online, suggesting that Marvel Studios may be restructuring its teaser rollout to spotlight several major characters and teams ahead of the film’s release. The information was reported by Comic Book Movie; industry insider Jeff Sneider shared it during a recent episode of The Hot Mic on December 23, 2025. Jeff said:

''The second trailer is, like you said, Thor. The third trailer is the X-Men — that’s where the James Marsden stuff came from, I’m told the fourth teaser is the Fantastic Four and the Wakandans''

Before any official announcement, MCU Film News reported a lineup of four character-focused teasers for Avengers: Doomsday. The first teaser focuses on Steve Rogers, followed by a second that spotlights Thor. The third teaser is said to focus on the X-Men, while the fourth is reportedly set to feature the Fantastic Four alongside Wakandan characters. Marvel Studios has not confirmed the content or focus of any of these teasers.

Reported teaser lineup and what we know so far

‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ Teasers Lineup • Teaser #1 — Steve Rogers • Teaser #2 — Thor • Teaser #3 — X-Men • Teaser #4 — The Fantastic Four & Wakandans

The first teaser has already been released, confirming Chris Evans’ return as Steve Rogers. It remains unclear whether this version is the same character seen in Avengers: Endgame or a new iteration created for the upcoming film.

According to IGN, the second teaser will focus on Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. Thor is the last remaining active founding Avenger within the current MCU timeline, and his placement as the subject of the second teaser reflects Marvel’s apparent strategy of grounding the film’s early marketing in established legacy characters.

A new hint about the X-Men still lacks official word. Even though names like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen have shown up in Marvel's lineup again, alongside James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, plus Alan Cumming joining Avengers: Doomsday, there is no confirmation yet on a special preview just for mutant characters.

Jeff Sneider later stated on The Hot Mic that Marvel Studios may instead use later teasers to highlight additional factions, including the Fantastic Four and Wakandan characters. Maybe Marvel won’t show Doctor Doom too soon, holding back his complete appearance until further into the rollout.

Movie fans can expect Avengers: Doomsday in cinemas on December 18, 2026. Back at the helm are brothers Joe and Anthony Russo, stepping into director roles again after their last Marvel work closed out the Infinity Saga with Endgame. Coming one year later, on December 17, 2027, audiences will see Avengers: Secret Wars hit screens.

During San Diego Comic-Con, the Russo brothers shared their excitement. Not just revisiting old paths, they see room to stretch the Marvel story further than before. With what's already been built as a base, uncharted ideas now have space to take shape.

“Being able to create stories and explore characters within the Marvel Universe fulfilled a life-long dream of ours, and we discovered a powerful connection with audiences in each film that we made. We’re thrilled to collaborate once again with Kevin, Lou and the entire Marvel team to bring this epic adventure in storytelling to new and surprising places for both the fans and ourselves.”

Few heroes are stepping back into familiar roles for Avengers: Doomsday, pulling faces from different corners of the MCU together. Thor shows up again, played by Chris Hemsworth, strong and weathered like before.

Anthony Mackie carries the shield as the new Captain America, steady in his stride. Across the screen, Vanessa Kirby shapes the role of Susan Storm. Paul Rudd plays Ant-Man, Florence Pugh returns sharp-eyed as Yelena Belova.

Other familiar faces expected include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

Marvel Studios has not issued an official statement confirming the reported teaser lineup or the focus of future promotional material.
