DeMarcus Lawrence touchdowns: Seahawks DE's two defensive scores highlight breakout game vs. Cardinals

2 hours ago 2

DeMarcus Lawrence made a name for himself in the NFL with one of the league's most popular franchises, the Dallas Cowboys. He's still making big plays — but now for another consistent NFC winner.

A member of the Seattle Seahawks in 2025, the 33-year-old isn't quite the elite pass rusher he once was, but Lawrence has played a role for one of the league's best defenses this season. And in Week 10, he was in the spotlight of Seattle's defensive excellence.

Twice, Lawrence scooped up a fumble against the Arizona Cardinals and took it to the house for a touchdown. He entered Week 10 with two career touchdowns, matching that total in one game.

Here's a look at Lawrence's pair of fumble return scores in Seahawks vs. Cardinals, and more to know about the defensive end's career.

DeMarcus Lawrence touchdowns vs. Cardinals

Seattle's defense has been one of the league's best in 2025. Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals learned that the hard way, finding themselves in a massive first-half hole after some turnovers.

In the first quarter, Tyrice Knight blitzed Brissett and went unblocked, knocking the quarterback to the ground just as he was about to release a pass. The ball went to the ground up for grabs, and Lawrence was in the right spot to grab it, then run 34 yards to the end zone without any trouble.

Brissett continued to see tons of pressure from Seattle, and the same two players combined for the same type of big play early in the second quarter.

Knight made the same play on Brissett, squeezing through the Cardinals' line without much issue, then batted the ball right out of the quarterback's arms once again. It was deja vu for Arizona, as Lawrence was again right in place to scoop up the fumble, then take it 22 yards to the house.

According to Real Sports, Lawrence became just the fourth player to ever have multiple fumble return touchdowns in a game. Additionally, according to Opta, Lawrence became the third player since at least 1925 with two fumble recovery touchdowns in one half.

In one game, Lawrence doubled his career touchdown total, also scoring for the Seahawks for the first time.

DeMarcus Lawrence career timeline

Dallas Cowboys, 2014-24

Lawrence spent a decade in Dallas, drafted by the Cowboys out of Boise State with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He developed into one of the team's most consistent pass rushers for years to come.

He dealt with some injuries early in his career, but posted eight sacks in his second NFL season, then a career-high 14.5 sacks in 2017. He was named a Pro Bowler that year, one of his four career selections.

In 2019, Lawrence inked a five-year, $105 million contract after multiple franchise tags had been placed on him. He didn't notch double-digit sacks again for the Cowboys after 2018, but still remained a consistent veteran presence on the team's defensive line. After an injury-plagued 2021 season, Lawrence agreed to another three-year extension with the Cowboys.

After playing in all 17 games in 2022 and 2023, Lawrence only appeared in four games in 2024 due to injury. That spelled the end of his time in Dallas as he hit free agency, with 61.5 career sacks for the Cowboys over 11 regular seasons, plus 3.0 in six playoff appearances.

Seattle Seahawks, 2025-present

In March 2025, Lawrence signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks at 32 years old. He's filled a similar veteran role for the squad that he did in Dallas; while Lawrence's sack numbers aren't as eye-popping as they once were, he remains an impactful defender for Seattle.

Coming into Week 10, Lawrence had 3.5 sacks and 21 tackles for the Seahawks in seven games. He then found the end zone twice against the Cardinals for his third and fourth career touchdowns.

DeMarcus Lawrence contract

In March, the Seahawks signed Lawrence to a three-year, $42 million contract. He won't become an unrestricted free agent until 2028.

According to Spotrac, Lawrence carries a cap hit of around $7.69 million in 2025, and he has career earnings of around $140.35 million.
