Lane Kiffin's future remains a hot topic of discussion in the 2025 college football season. The Ole Miss Rebels head coach is attracting interest from the LSU Tigers and Florida Gators.

Two-time CFP national champion Damien Harris believes that Kiffin has no reason to leave the Rebels. The former Alabama running back said,

"He's staying home. He knows where his bread is buttered. Listen, we're talking about LSU offering him $90 million. Ole Miss will give him $90 million, not to mention, like I just said, he's got family there, he's talking about being happier and healthier and finding more success at Ole Miss than anywhere else he's been."

Harris concluded, saying,

"I played for Lane Kiffin. He was my OC for two years. Nobody loves theatrics, the pageantry, the media circus, and more eyes being on him. Lane Kiffin is a guy: all publicity is good publicity. I think that he is trolling everybody right now."

Damien Harris and Lane Kiffin crossed paths at Alabama. Kiffin served as the Crimson Tide's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach until he accepted the head coach job at Florida Atlantic.

Harris believes that Kiffin is merely enjoying the social media buzz, but he'll eventually accept a renewal to stay with the Ole Miss Rebels. In the meantime, the veteran coach is vying for his first national championship as a head coach.

LSU Tigers readying $90 million offer for Lane Kiffin

The LSU Tigers are pulling out all the stops to employ current Ole Miss HC Lane Kiffin as their new head coach. According to Sports Illustrated, the Tigers are finalizing an offer of roughly $90 million for Kiffin.

Furthermore, the report adds that the Tigers will guarantee Kiffin around $25 million in "roster cash" annually to bring elite talent to Baton Rouge. This is a result of the NIL boom, which allows colleges to pay athletes for their sporting prowess.

The Tigers fired former head coach Brian Kelly after a mixed start to the season. They're currently coached by interim HC Frank Wilson, but are pulling all the stops to ensure Kiffin takes charge for the 2026 season and beyond. Kiffin is viewed as one of the best offensive minds in recent memory across the college football scene.

However, the report adds that Kiffin met with Ole Miss Rebels decision makers on Friday, with a decision on his future set to be revealed after the Egg Bowl between the Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Kiffin's Rebels are 10-1 and are one win away from confirming their place in the college football playoffs, which is one step closer to the program's national championship ambitions.
