Cowboys linked to top NFL coach to replace Matt Eberflus

With their season ending short of the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys have been linked to an intriguing coaching figure: Brian Flores.

Dallas Cowboys could be a prime landing spot for Minnesota Vikings Brian Flores

On Sunday, Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk reported that a move for Brian Flores to join the Dallas Cowboys is quite plausible. He mentioned that the Minnesota Vikings had tried to extend Flores' contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season. However, Flores has taken the initiative in the negotiations, allowing other teams to present offers while discussions with Minnesota continue. The possibility of Flores joining another team or even being promoted to Head Coach elsewhere is under consideration.

"It won't matter if another team wants to hire him to be a head coach. It will matter if another team is thinking about hiring him as its next defensive coordinator." Florio wrote.

The Dallas Cowboys are a clear possibility in Flores' search for a new team, with the Cowboys seen as a solid landing spot once the team moves on from Matt Eberflus, who has had a challenging season at the DC spot. Fortunately for Flores, there is solid chatter around the league that the Cowboys will aggressively offer favorable payday terms.

As far as the Vikings go, they seem all but aware. "The Vikings, we're told, are keenly aware of the possibility. And while the Vikings should have exclusive rights to negotiate with Flores until his contract expires, we all know by now that tampering is as rampant in pro football as flopping mouthpieces that never seem to make their way into players' mouths."

The Cowboys’ final game is against the New York Giants in Week 18 at MetLife Stadium.
