Grammy winner Brad Paisley settles the Babe Ruth vs Shohei Ohtani question

Though MLB is chock-full of outstanding players, LA Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani stands out due to his unique ability of pitching and hitting at an elite level.

One of the sport's most legendary players, Babe Ruth, was another player that famously boasted such a skillset. Naturally, this has prompted extensive comparison between the two icons.

Appearing on Sunday's episode of "MLB Tonight," Grammy winning musician Brad Paisley had his say on the debate. The country music star chose to side with Shohei Ohtani.

"Look, none of us were around to see Babe Ruth do what he did, but it wasn't this," Paisley said (Timestamp: 0:25). "There's no way it was this. You know, you get so spoiled (watching Ohtani do what he does)."

Making an appearance on the "Diggin' Deep" podcast in Dec. 2024, former Los Angeles Angels third baseman Mike Moustakas offered some insight into the relentless schedule Shohei Ohtani maintains on a daily basis, to ensure he is in top physical condition to dominate on both sides of the baseball.

"All the other days he wasn't pitching, he was he was in the weight room," Mike Moustakas said. "His routine was insane. He had it mapped out to the minute, kind of like Gordo. Every minute you knew Ohtani was gonna be at it in the training rooms, in the weight room, doing arm care. Rarely did Shohei Ohtani come out and hit BP on the field. "He comes down to the cage, does a 30-minute routine in the cage; then he'd be ready to go. And then I mean, you see what see what he's capable of doing on the field. On his start days, he'd be a starting pitcher and then, 30 minutes before, 20 minutes before, after he's done warming up, he comes down to the cage, gets his swings in, does his routine and then he's ready to rock. It was insane."

Moustakas and Ohtani shared the clubhouse in Anaheim for only one season, after which the former joined the Chicago White Sox, while the latter signed with the LA Dodgers as a free agent.
