The New York Jets had another disappointing performance on Sunday, losing 42-10 to the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium. It was the Jets' 13th defeat of the season.
The game quickly turned into a blowout, with the team failing to be competitive throughout the matchup. Aaron Glenn’s first season at the helm has featured more lows than highs, consistently showing major coaching shortcomings.
As the losses piled on, the coach has been under intense scrutiny from fans and the media. NFL analyst Chad Forbes likened Glenn’s early run with New York to Jerod Mayo’s tenure with the New England Patriots in 2024.

Aaron Glenn situation is virtually identical to Patriots 2024 with Jerod Mayo. Nostalgic Hire. Nice Guy that’s clearly in over his head.
Much like the Jets this season, expectations were low for New England in 2024 given the lack of roster talent. New York chose to part ways with Mayo after finishing with a 4-13 record.
The decision reportedly went beyond wins and losses. Mayo lost confidence internally due to concerns over leadership, game management and an unhealthy team culture. With Drake Maye entering the picture as the franchise quarterback, the Pats appeared to prioritize stability in a rebuilding phase.
Whether Jets owner Woody Johnson follows New England’s example and makes a head-coaching change after one season is something to watch closely. Regardless of what decision is made, Glenn’s first season in New York has not gone according to plan.
Aaron Glenn reportedly not on the hot seat going into the offseason
Despite what has been a disappointing season for the New York Jets, Aaron Glenn is expected to retain his job. Fox Sports analyst Jay Glazer reported that the team will not fire Glenn even though the team will finish with a worse record than its 5-12 mark last year.
"Aaron Glenn, after getting blown out by New England, people are saying, ‘Is he gone?’ No, he'll be safe," Glazer said on Sunday, via "The OT."Although the NFL typically shows patience with first-year coaches, Glenn’s debut season has raised serious concerns. The Jets (3-13) didn’t pick up their first win until Week 8, making them the last team in the league to enter the win column. They have the second worst record this season, with only the Las Vegas Raiders (2-14) below them.
