Cooper Flagg once again led the Dallas Mavericks' charge as Anthony Davis remained sidelined for the NBA Cup game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. The Mavericks stuck with the same starting lineup from the previous game, with Flagg, D'Angelo Russell, P.J. Washington, Max Christie and Daniel Gafford taking the court first.
The Mavericks endured another rough start, and Flagg's lack of assertiveness didn't help their cause. The former Duke standout remained scoreless in his first five minutes on the court. He didn't even record a field goal attempt before heading to the bench for his first rest of the game.
After checking back into the game, Flagg missed one of his two free throws but ended the first quarter with zero shot attempts. He recorded one rebound, one assist and one steal.

The Mavericks rookie came out all guns blazing in the second quarter and put up two shots in the opening minute. He misfired on both occasions, but his aggressiveness was heartening to see for Dallas supporters. The 6-foot-9 forward was successful in knocking down two of his next three attempts, including a 3-pointer.
Cooper Flagg pushed his tally to 10 points at halftime, but the Mavericks fell into a 74-51 hole. The rookie had two rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block after 16 first-half minutes.
