Christian McCaffrey update has 49ers star 'good to go' despite back injury

The San Francisco 49ers are heading into a Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans with a 9-4 record and a chance to begin making up ground in the NFC West.

While the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks are both 10-4, the Rams face the Detroit Lions, and the Seahawks get Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts in desperation mode.

But before some optimism could be built, the 49ers got a concerning injury update on Christian McCaffrey's back. However, despite that concerning report, ESPN's Adam Schefter shared that CMC is expected to be "good to go" for Week 15.

49ers' Christian McCaffrey expected to be 'good to go' for Week 15 vs. Titans

"Despite being added to the injury report today as questionable due to a back injury," Shcefter reports, "49ers RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to be 'good to go' Sunday vs. the Titans."

McCaffrey is banged up, dealing with a back issue, and is questionable for Week 15. But Schefter's report suggests that the star running back should be active for Sunday.

24 hours after these reports come out, the 49ers faithful will know whether he's actually suiting up or not. But, for now, it looks like McCaffrey might play for the 49ers despite this late addition to the injury report with a back issue.

Back injuries are always tricky to manage, though McCaffrey might be able to play for the 49ers despite such a problem popping up late in the week.

CMC has 849 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 237 carries this season. While he hasn't been an efficient runner, his work as a receiver has made him one of the best weapons in the NFL.

On 107 targets, McCaffrey has 85 receptions for 806 yards and five touchdowns. He's a running back, and yet, he's 18th in the league in receiving yards, with more than A.J. Brown, DK Metcalf, Devante Adams, and 122 more than Bijan Robinson, the next highest running back.

McCaffrey is expected to be "good to go" for this week against the Titans, but his status will be one to keep a very close eye on as game time approaches.
