Chris Jones injury update: Latest news on Chiefs star defender after hurting hamstring vs. Chargers

2 hours ago 2

The Kansas City Chiefs' dynastic success in the past decade can be attributed to many players, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce on the offensive side on the ball. But defensively, few players have been as essential as Chris Jones.

The defensive tackle, now 31, has been in a Chiefs uniform since 2016. He's been both a team leader and dominant presence in opposing backfields since then for Kansas City, coming into Week 15 of the 2025 season with four sacks.

However, with the Chiefs needing a win over the Los Angeles Chargers for their desperate playoff chase, Jones left Sunday's matchup with an apparent injury.

Here's the latest on Jones' exit in Week 15.

What happened to Chris Jones?

In the third quarter of Sunday's Week 15 matchup, the Chiefs and Chargers were tied at 13 as L.A. was in possession. Jones exited following a 2nd & 5 play that resulted in a five-yard pickup for Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

Just as Nick Bolton returned to the field from an injury for the Chiefs, Jones was seen limping off the field. Per Matt Derrick, Jones was getting his left leg worked on at the medical table.
