Carlos Alcaraz has announced going separate ways with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero after over seven years of association. The public announcement came just a month away from the 2026 Australian Open, and fans are dissecting the potential reasons for the breakup.

In the wake of this development, Alcaraz's agent, Albert Molina, is getting called out by fans for the controversial breakup. The reported failed contract negotiations supposedly ended the union, which resulted in six Grand Slams and 24 ATP Tour singles titles.

"I once again ask what does Molina even do? Carlos keeps ending up as the bad guy in every situation. People make wild theories & spread random rumors, painting him as either a villain or a kid with no authority. The docu was bad enough but this whole JCF saga is just embarrassing," one fan wrote. "you should take molina’s job," another fan added. "molina getting paid to do something that fan accounts on twitter are doing for free. @carlosalcaraz wake up!!!!" one fan wrote.

Fans continued to take sarcastic slams against Alcaraz's longtime agent who also used to represent David Ferrer and Nicolás Almagro.

"Zero control over the narrative every single time and everyone else takes advantage of it. Just hire someone competent for that bruh 😒" one fan commented. "ughhh when it comes to carlos everything is just blown out of proportion," one fan added. "Should have the first one to be kicked btw," one fan added.

Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero's breakup result of failed negotiations: Report

According to Marca, the negotiations between Carlos Alcaraz's camp and Juan Carlos Ferrero failed, leading to their eventual breakup. Ferrero was reportedly given only 48 hours to sign a new deal containing terms he considered unacceptable.

Since agents typically handle such negotiations on behalf of tennis players, fans believe Albert Molina is to blame for the end of Ferrero and Alcaraz. In his public statement, Alcaraz thanked the coach for helping his professional development in the sport.

“Thank you for making my childhood dreams come true,” Alcaraz wrote (translated from Spanish). “We started this journey when I was just a kid, and throughout this time you have accompanied me on an incredible journey, both on and off the court. And I have thoroughly enjoyed every step of the way with you. “We have made it to the top, and I feel that if our sporting paths had to part, it should be from up there. From the place we always worked for and always aspired to reach…You have made me grow as an athlete, but above all as a person. And something I value greatly: I have enjoyed the process. I will remember that, the journey we have taken together.”

Ferrero also expressed appreciation towards the post but added that he would have liked to continue.
