The 49ers drafted Aiyuk with the 25th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. He's made three playoff appearances with the team in five years while recording 4,305 yards and 25 TDs passing.

In August 2024, the 49ers gave Aiyuk a four-year extension worth $120 million. However, he injured himself during their Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. After tearing both his ACL and MCL, the wide receiver has yet to return to the field for his team.

In July, Aiyuk was placed on the PUP list before being placed on the reserve/left squad list last Sunday. The 49ers also decided to void the $27 million in guaranteed money that the wide receiver was set to earn in 2026, raising questions about his future with the franchise.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan shares his honest thoughts on Brandon Aiyuk's situation

Last week, the 49ers secured a 37-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans. In the postgame press conference, coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about their decision to move Brandon Aiyuk from the PUP list to the reserve list.

The 49ers coach revealed how he hasn't heard from the wide receiver in a while

"We haven't seen him in forever," Shanahan said. "That's the decision they make. It's pretty simple for me. I haven't seen him in a month. It hasn't been an issue with our team at all. We've been plugging away. No big deal. It's something we've been used to for a while.

Shanahan also highlighted how he has given up on the possibility of Brandon Aiyuk returning this season.

"We've been playing with our receiver group all year. I reall have been hoping he would come back all year, but not one point I was really planning on it. ... I would love to have B.A. out there, would love that type of player. But that was something I realized early on wasn't going to come for a while and there was nothing that made me sit there and think it was happening soon."

The 49ers (10-4) face the Colts on Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET.
