Browns' Myles Garrett reportedly drawing 'super hot' interest from Eagles

16 hours ago 2

The Cleveland Browns, during the offseason, dealt with one of the higher-profile contract negotiations in football. Myles Garrett was demanding a new contract, and after negotiations ended, Garrett signed a four-year, $160 million extension.

During those negotiations, there was a lot of trade speculation, and one of the teams that was linked to Garrett at the time was the Philadelphia Eagles. While Garrett stayed in Cleveland, the Eagles' interest in Garrett, and later Micah Parsons, means that Philadelphia is interested in spending the capital needed to land a superstar pass rusher.

Now, with the trade deadline less than a week away, the Eagles are once again mentioned in trade rumors. This time, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, during a report on 102.5 The Game, reports that the Eagles aren't just interested, they're "super hot" for Garrett, and willing to offload three first-round picks to make such a deal work.

Eagles 'super hot' after Browns' Myles Garrett

"Rumor going around," Robinson said, "Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett, and Howie would give up three first-round picks for him. Howie would really love a shot at him. I was told by the Browns they're not interested in moving him."

The 29-year-old pass rusher is coming off a five-sack performance against the New England Patriots. While the first three rounders would be appealing for the Browns, those picks will likely be near the end of the round, making them less valuable than a higher first-round pick.

If a team projected to miss the playoffs offered three first-rounders for Garrett, it would be significantly more appealing than the Eagles reported blockbuster offer.

Trading Garrett doesn't make much sense from a financial perspective for the Browns, as Cleveland would be on the hook for a lot of money over the next few seasons. While Philadelphia would take on a lot of the contract, Cleveland would still be saddled with a lot of dead cap and no superstar pass rusher.

The six-time Pro Bowl and four-time All-Pro pass rusher likely isn't available for trade, even if Roseman offered a massive sum of draft picks, money, and players to make it work.

Cleveland moving on from Garrett, in the middle of another incredible year, would be a devastating loss for the defense and would officially cement the Browns as one of the worst teams in the league.

While their offense right now isn't great, their stellar defense can keep them competitive, and Garrett is a must-watch player every week. Moving on from him is incredibly unlikely.

While a Garrett trade is all but off the table for Cleveland, this rumor is worth keeping in mind. Whether it's the trade deadline or in the offseason, Roseman has expressed his interest in Garrett.

The only question is, will he offer too much for Andrew Berry and the Browns to refuse? At this point, that's unlikely. But with the smoke around a potential trade picking up, it can't be completely ruled out just yet.
