Scream 7 cast & characters: Meet the stars behind the film and the roles they play

Scream 7 will be the seventh entry of the Scream franchise, with the direction of Kevin Williamson and the script of Guy Busick and Williamson based on a story by James Vanderbilt and Busick. The movie is a follow-up to Scream VI (2023) and keeps the slasher saga alive, with some characters returning and some new ones introduced.

After the departure of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the co-creator of the original Scream, Kevin Williamson, took over directing. Filming in Atlanta began in January 2025 and ended in March. Paramount Pictures will release Scream 7 on February 27, 2026.

Scream 7 sees the return of Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Roger L. Jackson, and David Arquette, and the movie also features two new actors, Isabel May and Joel McHale.

1) Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott

Neve Campbell is back as Sidney Prescott, the original lead character of the Scream series. Neve is a Canadian actress, but she first became popular through the drama series Party of Five (1994 - 2000).

Later on, with her major role in the horror movie Scream (1996) directed by Wes Craven, she became known worldwide, and thus the film became a huge success, and she was credited as a leading figure of the horror genre.

Besides Scream 7, her famous works are The Craft, Wild Things, Panic, and The Company. Recently, she has been featured in Skyscraper, Clouds, and the series The Lincoln Lawyer.

2) Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers

Actress Courteney Cox is back as Gale Weathers, the reporter who is always on the case. Known for the role of Monica Geller in Friends (1994–2004), the most successful TV series ever, Cox has been in every Scream movie since the original one in 1996.

Besides the Scream series, she has also been in TV series like Cougar Town and Shining Vale, and movies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Bedtime Stories. As a producer and director, Cox co-founded Coquette Productions, and she has directed the movie Just Before I Go.

3) Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin

In Scream 7, Mason Gooding is back as Chad Meeks-Martin. Being the son of the actor who won an Oscar, Cuba Gooding Jr., Mason started his career by doing TV shows Ballers and Love, Victor.

His first movie role was in Booksmart (2019), and then he did Fall (2022). The 2022 movie was the first one of the Scream series that Mason was a part of, and he came back to reprise his role in Scream VI (2023).

Besides the franchise, he had roles in Netflix's Let It Snow and the podcast series Electric Easy.

4) Jasmin‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin

In Scream 7, Jasmin Savoy Brown will return as Mindy Meeks-Martin. Alongside, Brown is recognized for her roles in Showtime’s Yellowjackets and HBO’s The Leftovers.

She kicked off her career through television shortly before she was the lead in the 2021 movie Sound of Violence and the 2023 thriller Missing. Besides acting, she is also a singer and has put out songs such as Orange Wine and goddamnit.

What is Scream 7 about?

After the events in Scream VI, Scream 7 tells the tale of Sidney Prescott dealing with another frightful problem. The shooting that happened under the working title Scar Tissue was done in Atlanta, Georgia.

After Marco Beltrami did the music of the first four movies, he is back to do the music of the seventh movie too, which comprises not only brand new themes but also reinterpreted scores like Sidney's Lament.
