Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf league for the upcoming 2026 season. A current PGA Tour star issues his 'two cents' on the American golfer's potential pathway.
Michael Kim, a winner on the PGA Tour, stated his take on the matter on his X (formerly known as Twitter) platform, while clarifying that he has 'zero insider knowledge' on the matter. He stated that with the circuit being under Brian Rolapp's new leadership, Brooks Koepka may have a fair shot at playing a full schedule on the circuit in the upcoming few years.
While noting that golf fans and enthusiasts can only expect to see Koepka play in Major championships in 2026, Michael Kim said (via X @Mike_kim714):
"ZERO insider knowledge but my two cents: -Pgatour puts out a super nothing statement lol. Obviously a statement to keep all options open. -I assume with LIV letting Brooks go, there’s an understanding that he doesn’t play anywhere in 26 except prob the majors. -Brooks is one of the well liked guys that went to LIV. I’m going to guess that he’s going to have less difficulty coming back than others especially with Brian Rolapp in charge. Brooks is a star and an important figure in golf. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Brooks playing a full tour schedule along with the big changes coming in a couple yrs. -Again, I have no intimate knowledge. Just a big guess."Here's a look at the 2018 John Deere Classic winner's post (via X @Mike_kim714):
Following the news being put out via a press release from the Saudi-based league, the PGA Tour issued a statement addressing the former LIV Golf star's potential options.
PGA Tour's statement on Brooks Koepka's farewell to LIV Golf
The PGA Tour's Communications department issued a statement via X on Brooks Koepka's departure from LIV Golf within 30 minutes of the breakaway league making the announcement.
While the statement did not confirm nor deny Koepka's return to the circuit, Michael Kim referred to the post as 'a super nothing statement.' Here's a look at what the PGA Tour had to say (via X @PGATOURComms):
"Brooks Koepka is a highly accomplished professional, and we wish him and his family continued success. The PGA Tour continues to offer the best professional golfers the most competitive, challenging, and lucrative environment in which to pursue greatness."Here's a look at the post (via X @PGATOURComms):
Having served Smash GC as a captain, Brooks Koepka's role will be taken over by Talor Gooch. The professional golfer's decision to step away from the league was guided by his motive to spend more time with his wife, Jena Sims, and their son, Crew, at home.
