AEW powerhouse Brian Cage has once again expressed his frustrations with his position in his current stable, and seemingly with his stable-mates as well. The former champion has been out of action for several months now.
In the wake of winning the ROH World TV Title at last year's WrestleDream pay-per-view, Brian Cage left his former teammates, The Gates of Agony, to join forces with Don Callis and his "family". He was paired with fellow big-man Lance Archer to form a fearsome tag team, The Murder Machines. The duo were seemingly poised to challenge Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley for the AEW tag titles earlier this year, but Cage unfortunately tore his quadriceps during an indie show in April, which subsequently put him on the shelf.
In the former FTW Champion's absence, the Don Callis Family has continued to grow and expand its domination over the All Elite Wrestling roster. This week on Fright Night AEW Dynamite, The Invisible Hand held a "summit" with his clients, who unveiled a painting depicting the members of the faction to honor Don. Brian Cage has now taken to X/Twitter to share his two cents on the painting, claiming that the artist had "down-sized" him in favour of the other subjects in the piece.
"The fact they down sized me and then made everyone else look better is crazy." - wrote Cage.Did The Rock's "Final Boss" run hurt WWE? Watch Here!
It remains to be seen if Cage will still be counted as a member of the Callis family once he returns.
Brian Cage on whether Tony Khan has plans for his AEW return
Brian Cage underwent multiple surgical procedures for his injuries earlier this year, and is currently on the road to recovery. The Swolverine recently appeared on The All F'N Wrestling Show, where he confessed to not having any knowledge as to whether AEW head honcho Tony Khan had developed any creative plans for his comeback. Cage emphasized how anything might be possible with regards to his return, stating:
"I have no idea about any sort of creative plans for our return at all at this point. So, I mean, I guess anything could be possible (…) There’s a whole wide open of versatility of what could happen, because there’s nothing set in stone at all for when I’m coming back or what I’m going to do when I come back. I’m not telling anybody that I don’t want anybody to have an inkling. I want everybody to have no idea of, ‘Oh, maybe around this time,’ because it might be next week, next year, or I don’t know. Who knows?” Cage said. [H/T: Fightful]It remains to be seen when Brian Cage will be brought back to AEW television.
