Barcelona star Raphinha opens up on accepting Saudi offer

Raphinha’s future at Barcelona has been a hot topic for a while.

Now, the Brazilian winger has finally spoken out about the massive offer he received from Saudi Arabia. And let’s just say — last year, he might have packed his bags and booked a flight. This year, he’s choosing dreams over dollars.

Raphinha revealed in a chat with TNT Sports that he was tempted when he saw the numbers coming from Saudi club Al Hilal.

The figures were huge — enough to make even the strongest loyalty waver. But times have changed for the Barcelona star.

"Yesterday, someone sent me news of the offer from Saudi Arabia," Raphinha said.

"Honestly, I think I would have accepted the offer if it was sent last year. I was struggling mentally, and it was life-changing money for my family. Now, my mind is closed to money, and open to dreams."

The winger admitted that a year ago, after a rough season in Catalonia, he would have jumped at the chance. He had personal struggles, and the money could have changed everything for him and his loved ones.

"Because at that time, I was in a bit of a psychological breakdown, and this offer would solve everything in my life, my wife’s life, and my family’s life," he shared.

Raphinha explains why he rejected other offers

Despite the eye-watering offer, Raphinha decided to stay. He feels he has unfinished business in Europe — and at Barcelona.

"I had a lot to offer here in Europe, I still had a lot to offer this club, and I still had a great opportunity to continue representing the national team," he explained.

While Barca and Raphinha are still ironing out the details of a new contract, some bumps remain.

The player wants a longer deal and a better salary. Meanwhile, Al Hilal waits in the wings, ready with a check that could make anyone double-take.

But for now, it’s goals, not gold, that Raphinha is chasing. Football fans know — sometimes it's not about the assist to the bank account, but the assist on the pitch.
