Giants' Abdul Carter had perfect response to Lawrence Taylor number rejection

To no one's surprise, New York Giants star Abdul Carter won't be wearing Lawrence Taylor's number.

Though the No. 3 overall pick had his eye on getting the hall-of-famer's number out of retirement, Taylor wasn't letting that happen.

Even so, Carter had the perfect response after failing to get No. 56.

The worst thing he could say was NO!! My stance don’t change, LT is the 🐐 nothing but respect… This just gonna make me work even harder!! I love it.

It doesn't get much better than that in terms of a response to rejection. Even though the Giants brought No. 1 out of retirement last year for Malik Nabers, it would have been an entirely different story if they did so with Taylor's number.

Carter has been adamant about building a legacy with the Giants, despite growing up as a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Penn State product has the path to do that, and he'll embark on the journey with his own jersey number.
