KansasCity Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered season-ending ACL and LCL injuries in his team's 16-13 loss to the LA Chargers in Week 15 on Dec. 14. The loss also confirmed that the Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention.
On Saturday, the Denver Broncos were confirmed as AFC West winners after the LA Chargers suffered a 20-16 loss to the Houston Texans. Since Denver clinched the division, it ended Kansas City's nine-year streak of winning the AFC West.
After Denver was confirmed as the AFC West winner, Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper aimed a dig at the Chiefs.

A minute later, Cooper took another shot at Kansas City.
"B*tch made a*s pansies," Cooper tweeted.The Broncos took Cooper in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $60 million contract extension with them in November 2024.
Cooper is enjoying a solid run with the Broncos this season. He has posted 49 tackles (23 solo), 8.0 sacks, 8.5 stuffs and four passes defended.
The Broncos (13-3) currently have the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They will face the LA Chargers in Week 18 on Jan. 4.

Mahomes finished his cut-short 2025 season with 3,857 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, 11 interceptions and five rushing TDs. He is currently in rehab after undergoing surgery.
The 2026 NFL regular season is scheduled to commence on Sept. 10. It will be interesting to see if Mahomes will be healthy to play in Kansas City's season-opener.
