All-rounder Axar Patel came up with an excellent all-round performance as India beat Australia by 48 runs at the Carrara Oval in Queensland in the fourth T20I of the five-match series. The versatile Delhi Capitals (DC) star walked away with the Player of the Match award as the Men in Blue took a crucial 2-1 lead.

After India were asked to bat first by Mitchell Marsh, Axar's 11-ball 21* lifted the visitors past the 165-run mark after a mid-innings batting collapse. The left-handed batter struck Marcus Stoinis for a six and a four in the last over of India's innings. With the ball, he dismissed Matthew Short and Josh Inglis as the Aussies fell way short of their target of 168.

Axar has one half-century to his name after 82 T20Is. His best score of 65 was registered off 31 balls against Sri Lanka in Pune in January 2023.
