The third installment in James Cameron's epic science fiction saga, Avatar: Fire and Ash, is now playing in theatres. The film, which brings back the Sully family featuring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña, is directly set after the events of its predecessor, The Way of Water (2022).
The film's plot shifts the focus from the oceans back to a more volatile and dark version of Pandora, focusing on the conflict between the Sully family and the aggressive Ash People (the Mangkwan clan), led by the formidable Varang (Oona Chaplin).

In the film's final scene, the Sully family overcomes their internal conflicts and grief to unite against the RDA. During the climactic battle, Kiri successfully connects with Eywa, summoning the planet's wildlife to turn the tide and defeat the human forces. Spider is ultimately accepted into the tribe through a spiritual initiation at the underwater spirit trees.

During the final scenes of Avatar: Fire and Ash, Jake Sully is rescued from the RDA by Neytiri, Spider, and Dr. Ian Garvin. Upon his return to the Metkayina, he rallies the clans to defend the Tulkun from the RDA and Scoresby, who are hunting the creatures to harvest Amrita, a valuable anti-aging liquid.
One of the biggest twists in Avatar: Fire and Ash involves Spider. In the beginning, Spider’s mask breaks, and he almost suffocates. To save him, Kiri uses her special powers to create a biological link between his body and the planet's nature.
This allows Spider to breathe the air on Pandora without a mask, but it also gives him a Na'vi-like queue, which causes a lot of tension for Jake Sully. He is worried that if the humans capture Spider, they will study him to find out how all humans can live on Pandora without equipment.
Jake even fears this could lead to a full-scale invasion. While this fear makes him consider killing Spider to protect the planet, he ultimately chooses to protect him. The final battle begins when Jake becomes Toruk Makto again to rally the clans. He is joined by the Tulkun and Na'vi clan, who decide to fight back against the RDA hunters led by Scoresby.
The fight is decided when Kiri, despite the risk of having a seizure, connects to Eywa underwater. With the help of Spider and Tuk, she reaches the goddess, who then sends a swarm of squid-like creatures called the Tsyong to attack the RDA. Most of the human forces are destroyed, and Payakan kills Scoresby by dragging him into the deep ocean.
During the final scenes of Avatar: Fire and Ash, Ronal, the leader of the Metkayina, is wounded and dies during the fight, but not before Neytiri helps her give birth to a baby girl. As the battle ends, Colonel Quaritch has a showdown with Jake in a zero-gravity area.
In a surprising twist, Quaritch helps save Spider from falling, but when Neytiri arrives, he spooks and throws himself into the fires below. However, his fate is remains unclear as his body isn't shown. Varang also survives the battle and flees after Kiri scares her away.
Avatar: Fire and Ash final scene is set at the underwater spirit trees where Kiri helps Spider connect to the spirit world for the first time. Even though he is human, Spider is finally able to see and meet the spirits of his family, like Neteyam, Ronal and Dr. Grace Augustine. This ceremony proves that Spider is now a full member of the tribe. In the end, it is evident that while the war isn't over, the Sully family is stronger and more united than ever.
