Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report: Huge Joel Embiid Worry as 5 players Listed vs Knicks (Dec. 19)

Joel Embiid is one of five players on the Philadelphia 76ers' injury report for Friday’s game against the New York Knicks. Embiid is listed as questionable for the matchup due to an illness. He last played on Sunday in a 120-117 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

As has been the theme of his tenure with the 76ers, Embiid’s availability has been limited this season. He has played 11 games, averaging 20.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Kelly Oubre Jr. will miss Friday’s game as he is recovering from a left knee sprain. He has been solid when available, averaging 16.8 ppg and 5.1 rpg this season. Trendon Watford will also be out against the Knicks with a left adductor strain.

Lastly, Johni Broome and Hunter Sallis, who are both on two-way contracts, are listed as doubtful for Friday’s matchup. Broome and Sallis have played six games for the team in the 2025-26 season.

With so many key absences, the 76ers will heavily rely on Tyrese Maxey, who is averaging 31.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg and 7.2 apg this season. Outside of Maxey, rookie V.J. Edgecombe has been the team’s most reliable player, averaging 15.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 4.0 apg.

While the Philadelphia 76ers have some significant adjustments to make, the Knicks find themselves in a comfortable position after resting Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson and Karl-Anthony Towns for Thursday’s game. Landry Shamet remains the team’s only absentee.
