The Houston Astros are coming off a rather lackluster 2025 season. Injuries played a huge part in their downfall, missing the postseason for the first time since the 2016 season.

Now, Houston goes into the new season with a ton of new faces on the coaching staff. Victor Rodriguez was hired as the team's new lead hitting coach, Ethan Katz is the newest assistant pitching coach, Tim Cossins has been hired as the new catching instructor, and Anthony Iapoce will be the new assistant coach.

As for new faces in the dugout, there will not be many. The club came to terms with starting pitcher Tatsuya Imai, Mike Borrows in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Nick Allen in a trade with the Atlanta Braves, and Ryan Weiss on a one-year deal.

Astros-Guardians trade idea sends four-time Gold Glove winner to Houston

Some fans are starting to worry about what Houston could ptentially role out there when the season kicks off. Despite a strong core, they could still use another star.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller suggests Houston could acquire Steven Kwan from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for Brice Matthews, Spencer Arreghetti, and Walker Janek.

"Giving up two of the best prospects from what might already be the worst farm system at the moment sure would further complicate Houston's long-term plans. But the Astros also have one of the most suspect outfields among contenders, and adding Kwan's four-time Gold Glove to the mix would be huge. And if they did acquire Kwan, Shipping Isaac Paredes to Boston suddenly becomes much more doable."

Kwan would certainly improve Houston's chances, and Cleveland would get a pretty good package in return. This would also open up the Astros to trade Isaac Paredes and figure out their crowded infield.
