Analyst predicts Bears to part ways with $23 million WR

The Chicago Bears had a superb first year under Ben Johnson, making the playoffs and also winning a game before losing to the Los Angeles Rams.

Now, the franchise has to improve on what it accomplished with Caleb Williams, and that means some harsh decisions might have to be made.

With a host of weapons at his disposal, Williams likely doesn't need them all in 2026, right?

But who could be one that the Bears could look to get something in return for?

ESPN's Ben Solak thinks DJ Moore is on his way out.

"The Bears will trade wide receiver DJ Moore, as the future of the position seems set with Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III," Solak writes. "Most of Moore's money is tied up in salary, not bonuses, which makes it palatable for Chicago to trade him even with four years left on his contract. At 29, he should still be enticing to teams in need of veteran WR play."

Changing of the guard for Bears WRs

Moore was the Bears' "best" receiver in 2025, posting 682 yards and 6 TDs, but Rome Odunze (661 yards, 6 TDs) and Luther Burden III (652 yards, 2 TDs) weren't far behind him.

With Moore due $23 million in salary in 2026, that isn't a big deal for a team looking for a receiver, say the Buffalo Bills

So, a move makes sense, as Solak pointed out.

The question will be what sort of market will there be for Moore this offseason?

Still with juice in the tank, on the right team, in the right scheme, he could be quite the weapon, but it is becoming clear it might not be in Chicago.
