Alex Cora has hilarious way of announcing Red Sox Opening Day starter

The Boston Red Sox, just like the rest of Major League Baseball, are gearing up for Spring Training. Players are making the trip for camp, and for the first time after a busy offseason, the teams are getting together.

For the Boston Red Sox, the roster looks a bit different from last year's team. Their biggest change from last year is the starting rotation. Garrett Crochet isn't alone anymore atop the Red Sox rotation, as Sonny Gray and Ranger Suarez are great additions.

Chris Cotillo of Masslive.com shared the Opening Day starter announcement from Red Sox manager Alex Cora. And Cora had a hilarious, NSFW way of announcing the team's 2026 Opening Day starting pitcher.

Cora said, "Let's get that (expletive) over with," announcing that Garrett Crochet would be the Red Sox's Opening Day starting pitcher.

Crochet was the obvious choice for the Red Sox. While Suarez, Gray, and a few others could've been Opening Day starter material for the 2026 season, Crochet was not going to get that job.

This way of announcing that news was a hilarious way of doing so from Cora. He's not leaving it up for any debate; Crochet is the starter.

Last season, he posted a remarkable 2.59 ERA in 32 starts for the Red Sox, earning his second All-Star nod, and finishing 8th in MVP voting, and 2nd in AL Cy Young voting.

He led the AL with one shutout, 205.1 innings pitched, and was the MLB leader with 255 strikeouts on the year. If it weren't for Tarik Skubal, who was even more dominant, Crochet would've been the AL Cy Young in his first year with the Red Sox.

Behind Crochet in the Red Sox rotation are Gray, Suarez, Johan Ovideo, Bryan Bello, Patrick Sandoval, Kutter Crawford, Connelly Early, and Peyton Tolle.

It's one of the best rotations in all of Major League Baseball, and Cora's decision to go with Crochet to lead this MLB-best group was, as his hilarious announcement indicates, a very easy decision.
