Former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was all smiles after rolling his arm over and picking up a wicket in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 clash against Kuwait on Saturday, November 8. Despite being one of the most versatile batters during his international career, the now-40-year-old never picked up a wicket in his 180 matches for Team India.
Karthik bowled only one over in a T20I throughout his entire international career, conceding 18 runs. Yet, he bowled the penultimate over of Kuwait's innings and was instantly rewarded off the second delivery of the over.
Karthik bowled a perfect seam-up medium-paced delivery, resulting in the batter, Mohamed Shafeeq, skying one to Robin Uthappa with the gloves.
Here is a video of the same:
While bowling was never a thing for Karthik in international cricket, the former gloveman bowled plenty at the domestic level. He bowled an incredible 20 overs in first-class cricket and another three in T20s, with a lone wicket to show for in the latter.
Unfortunately for Karthik, despite the wicket in the Kuwait clash of the Hong Kong Sixes, he went for 23 runs in his lone over.
Dinesh Karthik's Indian side suffered an embarrassing loss to Kuwait
The Dinesh Karthik-led Indian side suffered a shocking defeat to Kuwait in the six-overs-a-side Hong Kong 2025 clash. Having won a thriller against arch-rivals Pakistan on the opening day of the tournament (November 7). India lost by 27 runs in their second outing against minnows Kuwait.
Chasing 107 for victory in their six overs, India were bowled out for 79 in 5.4 overs, with skipper Dinesh Karthik scoring only a four-ball eight.
India's surprisingly poor run continued as they lost a second consecutive match to the UAE, following their defeat to Kuwait. Despite scoring a competitive 107, India could not stop the UAE, who chased the score down in the final over with a ball to spare.
The Indian side lost a third straight outing against Nepal and a second in the Bowl stage of the competition. Chasing a massive 138 in their six overs, India were bowled out for only 45 in three overs, losing by 92 runs.
