Aaron Judge is invaluable to the Yankees. But what if I told you even more so than you might realize.

Because we are watching a league in which righties are having more trouble hitting lefty pitching than at any time in recent history. And besides everything else Judge does brilliantly, he is just destroying lefties and helping the Yankees create an edge in an area where so many are struggling.

Judge had 29 plate appearances against lefties (all stats are entering the weekend) and, though that is not a huge sample size, he has stuffed a lot of damage into it — including five homers, three doubles and seven walks — thus a .500/.621/1.273 slash line and 1.893 OPS.

That helped Judge move his career OPS against lefties to 1.052, which was seventh-best all-time (minimum 1,000 plate appearances against lefties) behind five Hall of Famers: Jimmie Foxx, Babe Ruth, Frank Thomas, Hank Greenberg and Joe DiMaggio, plus Manny Ramírez.
