6 Maple Leafs players likely playing their final games in Toronto

1 hour ago 5

The 2025-26 season has been a complete disaster for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Because of this, they have already fired Brad Treliving as their general manager, and more changes are expected within the coaching staff this summer.

But the Maple Leafs are also very likely to move on from multiple players during the off-season, whether by trading them or simply letting them walk. The Maple Leafs frequently found themselves a step slow, as under Treliving, they valued size and physicality.

Because of this, change is needed within the forward group and on the blue. With that, let’s take a look at a handful of Maple Leafs who are likely playing their final games in Toronto.

Brandon Carlo, D

The fit between the Maple Leafs and Carlo has simply not been there. This stings, especially after noting that the Maple Leafs gave up their 2026 first-round pick and surging forward Fraser Minten to the Boston Bruins to acquire him.

With Carlo unable to fit in Toronto, it would not be surprising if they shopped him during the summer. Teams looking for a big right-shot defenseman for their top four should be targeting him.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson, D

Oliver Ekman-Larsson was a top trade candidate leading up to the deadline and was even scratched for trade-related reasons. However, he remains with the Maple Leafs for now.

Yet, with Ekman-Larsson in the middle of a strong year, under a good contract, and at 34, he stands out as a player the Maple Leafs could sell high on this summer.

Anthony Stolarz, G

Stolarz is another Maple Leafs trade candidate to watch during the off-season. Maple Leafs goalie prospect Dennis Hildeby looks ready to be a full-time NHL goalie, and it’s unlikely that Toronto would move Joseph Woll. Thus, Stolarz could end up being the goalie Toronto trades this summer.

Teams looking for help between the pipes could kick tires on Stolarz, as he notably had the best save percentage in the NHL in both 2023-24 and 2024-25.

Calle Jarnkrok, RW

It’s highly unlikely that the Maple Leafs will re-sign pending UFA forward Calle Jarnkrok this off-season. The Maple Leafs should be looking to get younger, and the 34-year-old Jarnkrok is no longer a fit on Toronto’s roster.

Jarnkrok has also struggled offensively this season, with just six goals and eight points in 51 games.

Nick Robertson, LW

Nick Robertson has been due for a change of scenery for multiple years now, and this summer could very well be when he gets it.

The 24-year-old forward is entering the off-season as a pending restricted free agent. With this, the Maple Leafs could either trade him or simply let him walk by not tendering a qualifying offer.

Simon Benoit, D

Simon Benoit is another Maple Leafs defenseman who could be on the move this summer. The 27-year-old blueliner was the subject of trade rumors leading up to the deadline and could be a decent trade chip for Toronto to dangle this off-season.

Teams looking for an affordable defenseman who can play both sides and plays a heavy game should be in the mix for Benoit this off-season.
