On that note, here are five interesting facts about the CSK player who put up a stunning display with the ball in the VHT 2025-26.

#5 Ramakrishna Ghosh's debut T20 wicket was a former RCB star

Ramakrishna Ghosh made his T20 debut for Maharashtra against Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2022 at Mohali. He had a tough outing, leaking 58 runs in four overs, but managed to pick up a big wicket on his debut.

He dismissed Karnataka skipper and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Mayank Agarwal. He sent Mayank back for a 17-ball 28 at a strike rate of 164.70.

#4 He played under the CSK captain in MPL 2024

Ramakrishna Ghosh played under CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2024 season for Puneri Bappa.

He excelled in the tournament and also performed well in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 for Maharashtra under Gaikwad.

Ghosh picked up 10 wickets from four games at an average of 30.60 at an economy of 3.92.

#3 Ghosh is also a hard-hitter and a capable batter

While Ramakrishna Ghosh is known for his medium pace bowling, he is also a more than capable batter and a fine all-rounder. In the MPL 2024 season, he had struck a 33-ball 52 for Puneri Bappa against the Ratnagiri Jets.

In Maharashtra's recent VHT 2025-26 game against Punjab, he scored a run-a-ball 73 with five boundaries and three sixes. Notably, he has 443 runs in 11 first-class matches at an average of 36.91 with two half-centuries and a top score of 99.

The MMCC were the Indian champions of Red Bull Campus Cricket 2018. They ended up as the runners-up at the World Final in Sri Lanka. MMCC scored 211/2 against Business Management School (BMS), who represented the host nation, Sri Lanka, but ended up losing the contest.

#1 Ghosh was picked by CSK during the IPL 2025 auction

For those unaware, Ramakrishna Ghosh was acquired by CSK for his base price of ₹30 lakh during the IPL 2025 auction. As Ghosh had played for Maharashtra under Ruturaj Gaikwad's leadership in MPL 2024, the CSK skipper may have played a role in his acquisition.

The 28-year-old was retained by CSK ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. He is yet to make his IPL debut as he warmed the bench in the 2025 season. Following his impressive performance in the ongoing VHT 2025-26, an IPL debut could be on the cards for him.
