Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL series started with its second season on Sunday. The players are gearing up for the second event of the season this week.

On Friday, in the TGL, McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club will take on Justin Rose’s Los Angeles GC. The tournament features some top-ranked golfers, and fans have their eyes on the event. Below are the three storylines to follow at the TGL Week 2 game.

#1 Rory McIlroy vs Justin Rose faceoff

Rory McIlroy’s team, Boston Common Golf Club, will face off against Justin Rose’s Los Angeles Golf Club. Rose was one of the best players in Season 1 of TGL for LA. He has the best short putt efficiency on the team and made five of six putts from 0–10 feet.

Last season on the PGA Tour, Rose and McIlroy were in contention to win the Masters and took the lead in the game after four rounds. They played in a playoff where the Northern Irish golfer registered a win to claim his maiden green jacket. They are gearing up for this week’s TGL event to play against one another, and it would be interesting to see who will score a point for their team.

#2 Michael Thorbjornsen debut

Michael Thorbjornsen is looking for his debut at the TGL this week. The TGL team has four players; however, Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama will be missing their first game of the TGL Season 2. Thorbjornsen will play as a replacement for Boston Common Golf. He opened up about playing in the tech-infused series ahead of the event.

"I was back in Wellesley recently for my high school reunion, and it really reminded me where this journey started,” said Thorbjornsen. “To now have the chance to represent Boston and take the field of play on Jan. 2 alongside Rory and Keegan is incredibly special. These are players I’ve looked up to throughout my development, and the opportunity to compete with them as teammates feels like such a full-circle moment."

The TGL Season 2 officially started with a game between New York GC and Atlanta Drive GC on Sunday. In that game, the Atlanta Drive won the event.

#3 Boston Common looks for its first win

The TGL Season 1 was terrible for Rory McIlroy’s team, Boston Common Golf Club. They struggled to have a single win, going 0–4–1. The team is aiming to have its first win in the TGL.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles GC was undefeated in the regular season last year. They scored 4–0–1. It would be interesting to see in the TGL Week 2 if Los Angeles will lose their first game in the TGL or if Boston Common Golf will have their first win.
