Former UFC star Yoel Romero went back to his wrestling roots at Real American Freestyle 4 and highlighted just how good he is.
Romero is an Olympic silver medalist, and has won several titles as a freestyle wrestler before joining the UFC.
While Romero was never able to win the UFC middleweight title, he did challenge for it. ‘The Soldier of God’ remains extremely popular in the combat community and has fought in BKFC as well.
This time, he was up against Pat Downey after Bo Nickal pulled out of the clash to face Romero. ‘The Soldier of God’ dominated his opponent and won 10-0 via a tech fall.

Romero, who is 48, celebrated wildly after winning the interim light heavyweight title and did some acrobatics and a flip too. Romero also proceeded to call out Nickal after his win.

Romero’s last UFC fight was in 2020 where he lost to Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title. The 48-year-old then signed for Bellator and notched up three wins and two losses till 2024.
‘The Soldier of God’ seems to have found his calling with bare knuckle boxing. He has won all his fights at BKFC and Dirty Boxing, holding a combined 3-0 record in the promotions.
When Joe Rogan was left shocked by Yoel Romero’s physique
UFC commentator and popular podcaster Joe Rogan also commented on Yoel Romero’s physique a while back.
Romero still looks in great shape and continues to perform in several top promotions. Rogan was speaking on episode #2239 of his show and commented on one of Romero’s videos which went viral.
Rogan couldn’t believe what he was seeing and labeled Romero a “freak.”
