The New York Yankees have spent the leadup to the MLB trade deadline acquiring MLB talent.
Right before the deadline, though, they sent away one big leaguer.
Oswald Peraza is being sent out to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to MLB insider Joel Sherman.
The Yankees are acquiring Wilberson De Pena and international pool money in return.
Peraza was the Yankees' main third baseman before they finally pulled off a deal to get Ryan McMahon from the Rockies.
That move couldn't have come too soon. It's a bit surprising that the Angels wanted the 25-year old Peraza. He's batting just .152 on the season at the MLB level.

Getting the 18-year old De Pena in return is a solid job by the Yankees to turn an un-needed player into a youngster with upside.
De Pena is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound outfielder out of the Dominican Republic.
He is in the Dominican Summer League right now and batting .211 with a lot of slug. He has five doubles, four homers, 18 RBI and five steals in just 31 games.

The Yankees know they'll be facing a roster crunch when Aaron Judge comes back off the injured list. This was the kind of small move that at least prevents a tough squeeze later on.
At 25 years old, Peraza may bring a bit of upside still to the Angels. But it's unlikely the Yankees will ever miss him with McMahon in place at third and Jazz Chisholm in place at second.
New York had a great trade season, and now it's time to go chase down the top of the AL East and beyond.
