Yankees' Jasson Dominguez breaks amazing Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle HR record

Jasson Dominguez just had a night that will be the stuff of legends.

The Yankees outfield phenom hit his first home run of the night left-handed. Then he hit his second homer righty.

It marked the first multi-homer game of his career, and also the first HR of his MLB career from the right side. In the process, he became the first Yankee since Neil Walker in 2018 to go deep from both sides in the same game.

And then, batting lefty with the bases loaded in the eighth inning against the Athletics in Sacramento, Dominguez left the building for a third time. This time, it was a grand slam.

That was the greatest history yet. Dominguez, at 22 years and 91 days, became the youngest Yankees player to ever hit three homers in a game.

The only other player to ever do it before turning 23 was Joe DiMaggio, at 22 years and 200 days. Mickey Mantle did it when he was 23. Lou Gehrig did it at 24.

Believe it or not, Babe Ruth never hit three home runs in a regular season game until 1930, when he was 35 years old. He had done it twice in the World Series before then.

Dominguez has been a highly touted Yankees outfield prospect for a long time. The last couple seasons, he was up and down a lot.

This year, he pretty much laid full claim to the starting left field job. He hasn't been perfect in the early going, but he's been good enough to not give up on.

And on Friday night, Dominguez rewarded that faith.

He did his best switch-hitting Mantle impression. He did his best youthful stardom DiMaggio impression, too.

In the process, Dominguez wrote his name among the most legendary of Bronx Bombers pinstripe stars of the past.

There surely will be more to Dominguez's story, but it's likely this three home run night is never truly forgotten.
