Yankees blockbuster trade pitch lands $15 million Diamondbacks power hitter

The New York Yankees have learned over the past 10 days that they aren't without their flaws.

After a 4-5 stretch against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Guardians, and Boston Red Sox, the Yankees are still sitting pretty in the standings. But they've been humbled on occasion, and the offense outside of Aaron Judge has been hot and cold.

There's one thing the Yankees still need to figure out: Should they trade for a second baseman or a third baseman? Jazz Chisholm Jr. can play either position, so the question really centers more on whether or not DJ LeMahieu should be fully replaced, or just needs a platoon partner.

One Yankees writer believes New York should swing big for the top third baseman that may or may not become available.

On Saturday, Pinstripes Nation's Sara Molnick named Eugenio Suarez of the Arizona Diamondbacks as a top prospective Yankees trade target this summer.

"Suarez brings power to the hot corner, with 16 home runs and 46 RBIs this season," Molnick wrote. "His .230 batting average is offset by an impressive .815 OPS. With the Diamondbacks potentially looking to retool, Suarez could be a valuable addition to the Yankees' lineup."

Suarez is on a one-year, $15 million club option, so he'd likely be a pure rental for the Yankees. The 33-year-old has just eight career playoff games under his belt, so he's itching to get back to October.

Arizona just got swept by the Cincinnati Reds, putting their playoff status back in jeopardy. It will still take a prolonged cold stretch for them to wave the white flag, but it's a possibility.
