Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham has emerged as a bona fide NBA superstar.
The 23-year-old former No. 1 overall pick notched his first All-Star appearance and an All-NBA Third Team selection in 2024-25 to the tune of 26.1 points, 9.1 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game on 46.9 percent from the field in 70 games.
Cunningham’s outstanding season wasn’t just about individual excellence, either. He led the Pistons to 30 more wins than they tallied in 2023-24, and Detroit earned a surprise playoff berth, pushing the New York Knicks to six games in the first round.
With the Eastern Conference expected to be weak in 2025-26, it’ll be high time for Cunningham and Detroit to take the next step, and Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey even thinks the Pistons front office should consider a franchise-altering move to turn that step into a freakish leap.
Bailey suggested trading for Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Bailey’s proposed package for Giannis: “Tobias Harris, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, Jalen Duren, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick, a 2030 first-round pick, and a 2032 first-round pick.”

“Detroit can surrender a ready-made rebuild core,” Bailey wrote.
“It could flip Tobias Harris in a subsequent trade. And of course, the Pistons can offer a good haul of draft picks, too.”
“If Milwaukee moves Giannis, it should be for a deal that fires up a new era. And this one would do exactly that.”
“As for Detroit, there would be some work to do to flesh out the roster, but Giannis and Cade Cunningham would be a dynamic top two good enough to compete for a title.”
Giannis, 30, would be wise to avoid the Western Conference if he does indeed bolt from Milwaukee.
The Pistons and Cunningham would represent a winning pivot for the two-time NBA MVP, who has been adamant about striving for a second ring.
