Yankees and Phillies should be of interest after latest rumor for All-Star catcher

The Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees are two of the more intriguing teams to watch at this year's Major League Baseball trade deadline. Both teams have aging, veteran rosters that have made the World Series but haven't come out on top, as well as some dark moments over the past few seasons. 

Both teams are always in the playoffs and have a chance to win the World Series, but unfortunately haven't been able to do so with their current rosters.

Both also have a need to get younger and could use a catcher. One recent trade idea would help either team do just that, with Jeff Passan recently naming both squads as potential trade destinations for Shea Langeliers of the Athletics.

“He already has hit 22 homers in 89 games this year, making this his fourth straight season with at least 22 homers; he's second only to Cal Raleigh in homers among catchers in that span. This year and last include basically all of his career bests, and he is on pace to land right near last year's 4.0 WAR total that was third among catchers last season.

“Best fits: Rays, Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Phillies,” Jeff Passan of ESPN wrote.

There are plenty of questions about whether Langeliers will even be traded. I think both fan bases would be extremely happy to see him on their roster. 

He's arguably the best catcher in Major League Baseball at the moment and would fit in perfectly. The Yankees probably need him more, but the Phillies would love to add a right-handed bat, and Langeliers is exactly that.
