Yankees' Aaron Judge offered two-word response to Oswaldo Cabrera injury

The New York Yankees were dealt a brutal blow during Monday night's win over the Seattle Mariners.

Infielder and fan-favorite Oswaldo Cabrera was taken off the field in an ambulance after what appeared to be a serious ankle injury.

Though Cabrera scored on the sac fly off the bat of captain Aaron Judge, the beloved infielder's ankle gave out as he tried to avoid the tag from Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh.

Cabrera hunched over in immediate and serious pain, but not before asking Judge whether he had scored.

"That’s terrible,” Judge said after the 11-5 win.

There are few players held in higher regard than Cabrera, both within the clubhouse and the fanbase.

"Especially how much Cabrera means to this team, for him to get hurt on a play like that, it speaks volumes of the type of guy he is. … Everybody in here feels terrible, just because we know how much he works, how hard he works, how much he loves and cares for everybody in this room, the way he would treat every game, every day he got to be up here was such a blessing.

“You never like seeing that happen to anybody, but especially a guy like that that means so much to us, it’s tough.”

The Yankees have been hit hard by the injury bug this season, especially at third base where DJ LeMahieu is still working his way back from a calf injury he suffered during spring training.

It remains to be seen how serious the ankle injury is for Cabrera, but it appears the Yankees need to prepare to be without him for a while.
