The New York Yankees' 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday night was overshadowed by the scary injury to Oswaldo Cabrera.

The Yankees infielder scored in the top of the ninth inning on an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly, but he immediately hit the ground in tons of pain before being taken off the field in an ambulance.

It was a tough scene, and Aaron Boone spoke about it immediately after the game: “He’s at the hospital. Everyone understands it was a pretty serious situation. Just praying for our guy, Cabby tonight.”

On Tuesday, the Yankees revealed an update that shows just how severe Cabrera's injury is.

"Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: • Placed INF/OF Oswaldo Cabrera on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle fracture."

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
• Placed INF/OF Oswaldo Cabrera on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle fracture.
• Returned INF DJ LeMahieu (#26) from his rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list.

So, the early signs point to a left ankle fracture for Cabrera, and a more concrete timeline should be coming soon.

For now, the Yankees will turn to a combination of Oswald Peraza and Paul Reyes, and DJ LeMahieu returning could be another option for Boone until Cabrera comes back from this tough injury.
